I sought my soul,
But my soul I could not see.
I sought my God,
But my God eluded me.
I sought my brother,
And I found all three.

"The road to excess leads to the palace of wisdom."
- William Blake
I destroy homes, I tear families apart,I take your children, and that's just the start.

I'm more costly than diamonds, more precious than gold,The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.

If you need me, remember I'm easily found,I live all around you - in schools and in town

I live with the rich, I live with the poor,I live down the street, and maybe next door.

I'm made in a lab, but not like you think,I can be made under the kitchen sink.

In your child's closet, and even in the woods,If this scares you to death, well it certainly should.

I have many names, but there's one you know best,I'm sure you've heard of me, my name is crystal meth.

My power is awesome, try me you'll see,But if you do, you may never break free.

Just try me once and I might let you go,But try me twice, and I'll own your soul.

When I possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie,You do what you have to — just to get high.

The crimes you'll commit for my narcotic charmsWill be worth the pleasure you'll feel in your arms.

You'll lie to your mother, you'll steal from your dad,When you see their tears, you should feel sad.

But you'll forget your morals and how you were raised,I'll be your conscience, I'll teach you my ways.

I take kids from parents, and parents from kids,I turn people from God, and separate friends.

I'll take everything from you, your looks and your pride,I'll be with you always — right by your side.

You'll give up everything - your family, your home,Your friends, your money, then you'll be alone.

I'll take and take, till you have nothing more to give,When I'm finished with you, you'll be lucky to live.

If you try me be warned - this is no game,If given the chance, I'll drive you insane.

I'll ravish your body, I'll control your mind,I'll own you completely, your soul will be mine.

The nightmares I'll give you while lying in bed,The voices you'll hear, from inside your head.

The sweats, the shakes, the visions you'll see,I want you to know, these are all gifts from me.

But then it's too late, and you'll know in your heart,That you are mine, and we shall not part.

You'll regret that you tried me, they always do,But you came to me, not I to you.

You knew this would happen, many times you were told,But you challenged my power, and chose to be bold.

You could have said no, and just walked away,If you could live that day over, now what would you say?

I'll be your master, you will be my slave,I'll even go with you, when you go to your grave.

Now that you have met me, what will you do? Will you try me or not? It's all up to you.

I can bring you more misery than words can tell,Come take my hand, let me lead you to hell.

A Dream Within a Dream - by Edgar Allen Poe

Take this kiss upon thy brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow -
You are not wrong, to deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if Hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand -
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep - while I weep!

O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

Darest Thou Now O Soul - by Walt Whitman

Darest thou now O soul,
Walk out with me toward the unknown region,
Where neither ground is for the feet nor any path to
follow?

No map there, nor guide,
Nor voice sounding, nor touch of human hand,
Nor face with blooming flesh, nor lips, nor eyes, are in that
land.

I know it not O soul,
Nor dost thou, all is a blank before us,
All waits undream'd of in that region, that inaccessible land.

Till when the ties loosen,
All but the ties eternal, Time and Space,
Nor darkness, gravitation sense, nor any bounds
bounding us.

Then we burst forth, we float,
In Time and Space O soul, prepared for them,
Equal, equipt at last (O joy! O fruit of all!) them to fulfill
O soul.

Thanks to all who went to the show the other night. It was small but fun (and a little spooky). Everyone was real cool and friendly like. Strauss was there doing his thing. Lots of booze and and shit etc. Thanks to Red Tag Rummage Sale and Kelli Shay Hicks for their lovely and hauntingly quiet performances.

I couldn't find any websites containing information about the films of Rochester film maker John Roberts so I'll put some here. John Roberts is director, writer and producer of two short films Sunday Morning and Portraiture, the latter contains music by Auger.

Interesting factoid: when Emma Goldman moved to the US in 1885, she first settled here, in Rochester.

The Garden of Love
I went to the Garden of Love,
And saw what I never had seen:
A chapel was built in the midst,
Where I used to play on the green.

And the gates of this chapel were shut,
And "Thou shalt not" writ over the door;
So I turned to the Garden of Love,
That so many sweet flowers bore,

And I saw it was filled with graves,
And tombstones where flowers should be;
And priests in black gowns were walking their rounds,
And binding with briers my joys and desires.
